East · Seongsan & Gujwa
Volcanic coast, village meals and a conditional Udo day.
East · Seongsan & Gujwa →JEJU / SLOW ISLAND JOURNEYS
Choose your coast, spend two nights there, then finish with Jeju City's market flavours. A four-day journey with room for the sea, local food and changing weather.

01 / BASE
These are four alternatives. Choose one, rather than crossing the island every day. The final Jeju City night keeps your market visit separate from your flight day.
Volcanic coast, village meals and a conditional Udo day.
East · Seongsan & Gujwa →Unhurried beaches and a view of Hallim Biyangdo.
West · Hyeopjae & Geumneung →A walkable city base or a separate resort coast.
South · Seogwipo or Jungmun →A simpler base for a shorter visit without a car.
Jeju City · market & museums →02 / FOUR DAYS
Collect the car only when you are ready to leave the city. Allow for the rental shuttle, return inspection and airport transfer; fuel or charging is additional. Keep one coastal area per day.
Travel to your selected coast, check in and eat nearby. If your flight arrives late, skip sightseeing. Keep the same accommodation for nights one and two.
Choose Seongsan Ilchulbong and a gentle nearby coast walk. The paid summit path has stairs; check first-Monday closure. Seopjikoji is a separate transfer, so shorten the walk if using buses. Alternatively, make Gujwa Haenyeo Museum OR Manjanggul your main visit, not both plus Udo.
Official information ↗Check out, return to Jeju City and arrange your luggage with your accommodation if available. Explore Dongmun in daylight, enjoy a seated meal, then browse the snack lanes. Sleep in Jeju City; luggage storage must be confirmed with the hotel.
Dongmun market & local food →Have breakfast near your accommodation, collect your bags and travel to the airport. Rental-car return and weather disruption need extra time. Do not add a market queue or ferry trip before your flight.
Only three days? Use Jeju City for two nights and keep Dongmun plus one nearby museum or coast. Drop the two-night coastal transfer instead of squeezing four days into three.
03 / MARKET TABLE
Start at Dongmun Gongseol Market, then explore the connected market lanes: a warm bowl, a sweet pancake and a small citrus haul make a generous Jeju tasting stop.

Dongmun Gongseol means Dongmun Public Market (동문공설시장). It connects to Dongmun Traditional Market (동문재래시장); the wider Dongmun area also includes seafood and evening food sections. Shop hours and closing days vary.
Try momguk as a seated meal; share hotteok, rice cakes and dumplings as snacks. Browse first, ask what is available today, and order small portions to leave room for more.
November is mandarin season. Hallabong is a later-ripening citrus: juice or sweets may be available, but fresh November-picked Hallabong is not a promise. Ask which fruit is in season.
Official information ↗A traditional Jeju soup of gulfweed simmered in pork broth. Savour it as a warm, hearty meal; this seaweed soup contains pork. Find a place serving it that day and check the ingredients if needed.
Official information ↗A Korean street-food favourite: chewy dough with a hot, sweet filling, often brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts. Dongmun Traditional Market is known for hotteok stalls. Let the molten centre cool before biting.
Official information ↗Omegi-tteok is a chewy Jeju speciality, traditionally made from glutinous millet and coated with red beans or bean powder. Modern recipes and toppings vary. Compare it with other tteok and ask how to store your take-away portion.
Official information ↗November brings ripening mandarins to Jeju's orchards. Browse the fruit stalls, check variety and origin, and ask for a small bag for the day's walk. Taste varies with the fruit and harvest.
Official information ↗Another famous Jeju citrus, with a later ripening season than autumn mandarins. Look for clearly labelled fruit, juice or sweets as available. Freshly picked Hallabong is not guaranteed in November; ask about harvest and ingredients.
Official information ↗Keep these fried dumplings on your snack wish list and ask whether a stall serves yakki-mandu today. They belong to Korea's wider snack culture; a current Dongmun vendor is not confirmed. Ask about the filling before ordering.

For take-away rice cakes, ask the maker when to eat them and whether to refrigerate or freeze. Check citrus variety and origin on the label; ask before photographing a stall.

04 / STAY
These are identifiable accommodation examples, not live room offers. Compare the exact location, cancellation rules and current availability. A Jungmun hotel is not a downtown Seogwipo base.

Official information ↗06 / CHANGE OF PLAN
The official site lists Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa as operating at this review. Summit access above Jindallaebat or Samgakbong requires a reservation. Check live trail status and entry cutoffs, carry your reservation QR and ID, water, food and suitable gear. Replace a coastal day; do not add a summit climb to it.
Official information ↗Ferries from Seongsan or Jongdal depend on weather and the last sailing. Vehicle-entry restrictions run from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2029, with conditional exceptions. Confirm your vehicle eligibility with the operator; a rental car is not automatically accepted. Keep your final pre-flight day on Jeju.
Official information ↗Manjanggul has reopened in 2026. The tourism listing gives 09:00–18:00, last entry 17:00, closed the first Wednesday monthly. Recheck before travel and wear shoes suited to wet, uneven ground. It is a separate Gujwa visit, not an extra stop on a full Udo day.
Official information ↗Jeju Haenyeo Museum in Gujwa is closed Mondays, with holiday exceptions. Jeju National Museum is a city alternative; check its current calendar. O'sulloc's tea museum and café are western options, but gardens and tea fields are outdoors. Strong wind can still affect transfers.
