Historic places, gardens and cultural landmarks.

4AttractionsNami IslandNami Island belongs to Chuncheon, but the usual boat departure point is approached from Gapyeong. Plan the station-to-wharf transfer and the boat separately. A winter photograph shows one season only; the tree-lined paths look different through the year.Use directions links below
5AttractionsSamaksan mountain sceneryThe mountain landscape can be explored on a separately planned hike or through the area's visitor attractions. A photograph of the rocky summit does not establish the cable-car route. Confirm your chosen entrance, activity and return transport before leaving the city.Use directions links below
6AttractionsObongsan regional outingThe mountain area spans Chuncheon and Hwacheon. Treat it as a dedicated nature outing with its own trailhead and transport plan. It should not be added casually after a city lunch, especially when daylight or the return train is limited.Use directions links below

Know the area

Chuncheon is an inland city in Gangwon. This guide combines the Soyanggang waterfront, Uiam Park and the downtown Myeongdong food area. Check local connections between the waterfront stops.

Top sights

Soyanggang Skywalk

Step onto the glass walkway for a view over the water. Check opening and weather-related access before travelling there.

Plan your visit: The transparent walkway gives a riverside view that is different from an ordinary park path. Check weather-related access before going. Visitors uncomfortable with heights can enjoy the nearby riverfront without using the glass section.

Uiam Park waterfront

Take a slower waterside walk and look toward Chuncheon Bridge. The guide photograph shows this viewpoint; it does not depict the skywalk.

Plan your visit: Use a short waterfront section as a relaxed pause rather than assuming a complete lake circuit fits into the day. Leave time for the ride between the park, food streets and station. Carry a layer when wind makes the water's edge cooler.

Myeongdong Dakgalbi Street

Make time for Chuncheon’s famous chicken dish in the downtown food area. This is Chuncheon’s Myeongdong, separate from the Seoul neighbourhood.

Plan your visit: Dakgalbi is often cooked in a large pan at the table and shared. Check the minimum order and ask the staff when it is ready to eat. Fried rice added at the end can turn the remaining sauce into another course.

Making the local connections

ITX-Cheongchun seats and ordinary Gyeongchun Line travel are different services. Check the ticketed station and train, then plan local buses or taxis between the waterfront and food streets. Nami Island's ferry approach is a separate trip via Gapyeong, not a walk from Chuncheon Station.

An editorial route suggestion. Adjust it for arrival time, opening hours, weather and your walking pace.

Morning · Train & skywalk

Depart Yongsan, arrive in Chuncheon and continue to Soyanggang Skywalk if open. Check your return train before leaving the station.

Lunch · A local favourite

Head to Chuncheon’s Myeongdong area for dakgalbi or choose a makguksu restaurant.

Afternoon · A waterside pause

Continue to Uiam Park if time allows. Leave space for the local journey back to Chuncheon Station; stay overnight for a slower pace.

Before you go

Review current opening hours, admission and access with official visitor information before your trip.

Seasons and what to bring

Lake and mountain views change markedly through the year. Summer calls for shade and water, while winter waterfronts can feel cold and exposed. For autumn foliage or snow, use recent local reports rather than relying on the archive photographs.

Choose a comfortable route

The glass skywalk, mountain trails and lakeside paths offer very different experiences. Confirm accessible entrances and any weather restrictions before travelling. Keep a short waterfront-and-food option if a member of your group prefers less walking.

Accessible transport and senior fares

A plan for unsettled weather

Check outdoor attraction notices before leaving the station. Move the main scenery stop to a clearer period and allow time for a relaxed dakgalbi meal. Avoid committing to a mountain route simply because you have already reached Chuncheon.
