Know the area
Danyang is an inland county in the Chungcheong region, set around the Namhangang River and mountain scenery. The railway station is separate from the main town and market. Dodamsambong, Mancheonha and the riverside trail are distinct stops; arrange local connections.
Top sights
Dodamsambong Peaks
See three rock formations rising from the river, with a pavilion on the tallest. Enjoy the view from the visitor area; boat excursions, when operating, are a separate purchase.
NAVER Map · English ↗KakaoMap · English ↗
Official visitor information ↗
Plan your visit: The three rock formations are best treated as a riverside landscape stop. Choose a public viewing area and allow time to look beyond a single photograph. Any boat activity has separate weather and operating conditions; the normal viewpoint visit does not include a cruise.
Mancheonha Skywalk
This clifftop viewpoint overlooks the river, town and surrounding mountains. Check current admission, transport within the attraction and whether the exposed walk suits your group.
NAVER Map · English ↗KakaoMap · English ↗
Official visitor information ↗
Plan your visit: Confirm the site's access and internal transport arrangements before arrival. A ticket to the viewpoint and optional adventure activities may be different purchases. Visitors uncomfortable with heights can choose a riverside stop instead.
Danyanggang Jando Trail
Walk a section of the riverside path for close-up views of the cliffs and water. Check access after heavy rain and choose a turnaround point that fits your schedule.
NAVER Map · English ↗KakaoMap · English ↗
Official visitor information ↗
Plan your visit: The riverside boardwalk offers close views of the landscape but can be affected by weather or access notices. Choose a suitable out-and-back distance and carry water. Check the return route to your transport rather than assuming the walk ends beside town accommodation.
Gugyeong Traditional Market
Browse a market known for garlic-based snacks and meals. Individual businesses set their own hours, so visit before your last transport connection.
NAVER Map · English ↗KakaoMap · English ↗
Official visitor information ↗
Plan your visit: Use the market for a meal and local food purchases between sightseeing stops. Garlic features in several Danyang specialties, but individual dishes differ. Ask about ingredients and portion size before ordering several items.
Gosu Cave
The limestone cave offers a different experience from the river viewpoints. Check the current visitor route and physical requirements; cave stairs, narrow sections and damp surfaces can be challenging. Bring a light layer and footwear with grip, and follow photography and access signs.
Sobaeksan regional hike
Sobaeksan spans a wider mountain area beyond Danyang town. Select the Danyang-side entrance that suits your route and check park notices. Seasonal photographs are inspiration only; winter or long ridge walks need a dedicated plan and appropriate equipment.
Travel from Seoul
Seoul → Danyang by train
Search Korail from Cheongnyangni to Danyang and choose a train that stops at Danyang on your date. Continue from the station by a checked local bus or taxi.
NAVER Map · English ↗KakaoMap · English ↗
Station → town and viewpoints
Plan the station-to-accommodation journey before arrival. Do not assume the market, Dodamsambong and Mancheonha are all within walking distance of the platform.
Plan a return connection
For several viewpoints in one day, compare local buses with a taxi itinerary agreed in advance. Save the destination names and leave time to return for your booked train.
Making the local connections
Danyang Station is separate from the main town and market. Plan a local bus or taxi for arrival and group nearby river stops together. Rural buses may not fit a tightly timed multi-stop route; agree any taxi waiting and pickup arrangements in advance.

Local food
Garlic chicken & dumplings
Market stalls use the region’s garlic in crispy chicken, dumplings and other savoury foods. Ask about chilli, meat fillings and portion sizes; recipes differ between shops.
Garlic bread
Garlic bread can be sweet as well as savoury, with versions that include cream cheese. Expect a rich aroma and check dairy ingredients if needed.
What to expect when ordering
Garlic dishes and local market snacks make useful meal stops. A dish described as garlic chicken, dumplings or bread can still contain common allergens, so ask about the actual recipe. Clarify whether freshwater-fish dishes are a shared pot or an individual serving.
Where to stay
Danyang town & riverfront
A town-centre hotel or guesthouse can make market visits and meals easier. Check the exact riverside walking route and your connection to the railway station.
Countryside pensions
A pension outside town can suit a quieter overnight stay. Confirm whether you need a car, whether meals are available and how late check-in works.

Accommodation map links are area searches, not confirmed bookings. Check the exact address, bedding, private bathroom, step-free access and cancellation terms with the property.
Before you book
A town base keeps meals and local transport simpler. A countryside guesthouse or mountain-side stay may be attractive but can add transfers. Check the exact entrance, parking, stairs and evening food options before choosing a property.
Suggested itinerary
Day 1 · River scenery & the market
Arrive from Seoul, transfer into town and visit Dodamsambong. Finish with the market and a shorter riverside walk that suits the conditions.
Day 2 · A view from above
Visit Mancheonha if it is open and conditions are suitable, then leave time for lunch and the connection back to Danyang Station.

Viewpoints and riverside routes can have weather-related access changes. Check Mancheonha’s current visitor arrangements before travelling there.

Seasons and what to bring
River scenery, mountain foliage and winter ridges offer very different trips. In summer, keep shade and water in the plan. Check boardwalk and park notices after heavy rain or before a snowy mountain visit.
Choose a comfortable route
A cave route, high viewpoint and riverside path have different physical demands. Check stairs, narrow sections and any shuttle boarding requirements before buying tickets. Choose a shorter river-view and market day if that better suits your group.
A plan for unsettled weather
Do not assume a cave or boardwalk remains open just because it is normally a visitor attraction. Check the day's notices, keep a town meal or indoor stop available and leave time for the transfer back to the station.
Culture & events
Danyang’s river landscapes are often explored through its celebrated scenic viewpoints. Combine nature with the market’s local food rather than trying to fit every distant viewpoint into one day.
