Yeongdeok Palgaksan, also called Okgye Palbong, is a cluster of eight rocky peaks above Okgye Valley. For an easier day, enjoy the valley and its rock scenery separately; hiking the exposed ridge requires mountain experience. Do not confuse Palgaksan with Palyeongsan in Goheung or Palbongsan in Hongcheon.
Eight rocky peaks above Okgye Valley; a demanding ridge or a separate valley outing
For the ridge, identify the Palgaksan trail entrance in Dalsan-myeon, Yeongdeok, and confirm the current ascent and descent with local trail notices. Rock becomes hazardous after rain or during ice. The nearby Sanseong Valley Eco Adventure uses Oksan public car park (Oksan-ri 529-4), a different destination from the summit trail. Search for 팔각산 Yeongdeok, Gyeongsang and select a marked entrance before departing. The mountain pin does not identify a trailhead.
Good times to consider
Spring · Summer · Autumn. Flowering, foliage, snow and trail conditions vary by date and year.
Before you go
Check local trail notices, forecast, daylight and the return journey. Route length and transport depend on the entrance you select.
