Jangheung: forest & market
A practical town-based day with Jeongnamjin Cypress Forest Woodland and the Saturday Market area. Keep Cheongwansan as a separate hiking day.
Allow one full local day, with an overnight stay if travelling from Seoul.

From Seoul: check the whole connection
Compare a coach towards Jangheung with rail to Gwangju-Songjeong or Mokpo followed by a coach transfer. Check the actual available connection and local ride to the woodland; do not use the old daily frequency as a current timetable.
A realistic local plan
Walking times below are our planning suggestions, not an operator timetable. Check the day’s weather, opening and return connections.
Morning: a suitable forest loop
Our suggestion: allow 1½–2 hours for a short signed woodland route and rest. Start from the visitor entrance, check slope and surface conditions, and keep summit climbing optional. Special wellness sessions or accommodation need separate arrangements.
Lunch: market & local food
Move back to town for lunch. For Jangheung samhap, ask about beef, pen shell and mushrooms, the portion size and whether seating or preparation is charged separately. If you do not eat shellfish, choose a fully cooked alternative after checking ingredients.
Afternoon: river walk or a separate drive
For an easier finish, stay near the Tamjingang river and your accommodation. Borimsa or the coastal viewpoint adds a separate ride; choose one after checking the return, not both automatically. Cheongwansan requires its own trail and weather plan.
Opening, tickets & practical checks
Check current woodland entry hours, ticket fees and separately booked programmes. Saturday market stalls and events vary by day; the district is not a guaranteed full festival every day.

Food & where to stay
The market is a useful place to compare local food. Ask for the full total before buying ingredients, and keep an alternative town restaurant in case stalls close early or the Saturday event is not running.
Weather & the return journey
After rain, choose a short firm-surface walk rather than a slippery uphill trail. Stay in the town area if road connections or weather make a coastal extension awkward.
