Sejong Center & Gwanghwamun

Make Seoul’s major performing-arts complex part of a Gwanghwamun walk. The broad façade and square are worth seeing, while a booked concert, musical or exhibition gives the visit a clear focus.

What to see

How to get there

Use Gwanghwamun Station on Line 5 and follow signs for Sejong Center. The operator lists 175 Sejong-daero; check your ticket for the exact theatre rather than heading only to the main building.

A practical walking order

Suggested route and time allowance; check live transport and venue notices for your visit.

  1. 1

    Look across the square

Start with the building’s relationship to Gwanghwamun Square before approaching the entrance.

  2. 2

    Locate your venue

Check the hall name, ticket collection rules and entry time. The Grand Theater, M Theater and other spaces have different entrances.

  3. 3

    Choose a performance or exhibition

Book from the official programme. Do not assume a show has English subtitles or that all exhibitions are free.

  4. 4

    Add a central Seoul walk

Continue towards Gyeongbokgung or south towards Cheonggye Plaza if your schedule allows.

Food & a break

Restaurants and cafés around Gwanghwamun make a useful pre-show stop. Leave enough time to collect tickets and find the correct hall.

Before you go

Public exterior viewing and admission to a performance are different. Check the official programme for language, age limits, accessibility and cancellation terms.
