What to see and do

Start with a route suited to your fitness and the available daylight; a summit hike is a separate undertaking from a temple-area walk.

Where to stay

Choose a practical base

Look for accommodation in or around Sokcho, Gangwon. Compare its distance to the arrival station or terminal and your first sightseeing stop. A rural attraction may be easier to visit from a town base with an arranged transfer.

For a hanok stay, ask about bed or floor bedding, private bathrooms, steps, check-in and luggage storage. For a hotel, compare access to the local transport you plan to use.

Regional food

A taste of Gangwon

Dakgalbi — Chicken, cabbage, sweet potato and rice cakes cook together in a spicy sauce on a broad hot plate. Chuncheon’s Myeongdong Dakgalbi Street is a well-known place to try it.

Typical ingredients: Chicken, Cabbage and onion, Sweet potato, Gochujang (red chilli paste), Optional rice cakes. Spicy, savoury and a little sweet. The vegetables soften into the sauce while rice cakes add a chewy bite.

This regional food example is associated with Chuncheon; availability near this attraction varies. Ingredients and ordering tips

Build your visit

Make it part of your trip

Make Seoraksan National Park the main activity for this part of your trip. Check the entrance and the time needed for the complete visitor route, including the return.

Keep time for lunch, the local journey and a return connection. These are suggested activities, not a timed tour or a promise of current access.

Before you go

Plan before you go

Check current trail access and weather with the park. Do not substitute a general sightseeing plan for a mountain route plan.
