Taejongdae Park
Forest paths, a white lighthouse and cliffs above the sea: Taejongdae is a half-day coastal escape on Yeongdo. Choose the Danubi road train or a longer walk, then pair the park with one more Yeongdo stop rather than crossing all of Busan.
Part of the Korea Tourism Organization’s 2025–2026 selection. Selection checked 2026-09-09.

Location & map stops
Taejongdae is at the southeastern end of Yeongdo, across the harbour from central Busan. Navigate to the main entrance at 24 Jeonmang-ro, not directly to the cliff edge. The entrance, observatory and lighthouse are separate stops inside a hilly park.
What to see & do
1 · Danubi road train
The ticket office is about 200 metres uphill from the main entrance information desk. The train uses the park road; it is not a railway connection from Busan. Keep your ticket and confirm the return boarding point and final service before getting off.
2 · Taejongdae Observatory
Make the observatory your main sea-view stop. Pause here before deciding whether to continue down towards the lighthouse. If stairs or fatigue are a concern, shorten the visit here and return using the operating train or the signed road route.
3 · Yeongdo Lighthouse
Follow the signed approach to Yeongdo Lighthouse and the coastal cultural area. Expect stairs and a climb back up. Keep behind barriers and do not descend onto closed rocks for a photograph; strong wind and spray can change the conditions quickly.
4 · Taejongsa & forest paths
Add a quiet temple-area stop only if your group has time and energy. Keep voices low around worship areas. Flowers are seasonal and should not be the only reason for a fixed-date visit.
Travel from Seoul
Busan Station or Nampo → Taejongdae
From Busan Station, Visit Busan lists buses 17, 88 and 101 towards Taejongdae. From Nampo, compare buses 8, 17, 30, 88 or 186. Check the current stop and direction in Naver Map before boarding and alight at Taejongdae / Taejongdae Spa. There is no metro station at the park gate.
From Seoul, or by taxi and rental car
Take KTX to Busan, then continue locally. Allow generous transfer time before a reserved return train. For taxis, show 태종대유원지 정문. Drivers should follow the public parking signs instead of assuming the park loop is open to cars. Confirm your rental return branch, fuel rules and one-way fees before booking.
Where to stay
Stay near your next connection
Nampo is useful for restaurants and onward city sightseeing; Busan Station suits an early KTX. A Yeongdo stay keeps you on the island but check bus access and evening food options. Do not choose a property only because its straight-line distance to the park looks short.
Regional food
Three meal options
Choose a simple soup-and-rice or noodle meal near the entrance for an easy solo lunch; look for a clearly priced single serving. Seafood is another option, but confirm the number of portions and any preparation charge first. A café and snack break suits a short visit, but carry water for the park. Ask about fish stock, shellfish and nut ingredients if needed.
Build your visit
Half-day plan · 3–4 hours
09:30 arrive and check the day’s notices → 10:00 Danubi if operating → observatory → lighthouse if stairs suit you → return to the entrance → 12:30 lunch. Times are a suggested pace, not a service timetable. Add waiting time on busy days.
Walking day or a shorter visit
For a walking visit, allow about 4–5 hours including breaks and meals; this is a planning estimate. For a shorter trip, use the train when operating and choose just the observatory. Train travel does not remove the stairs on the lighthouse approach.

Weather, steps and facilities
Wear shoes with grip and bring water, sun protection and a light wind layer. Use signed toilets before a longer coastal walk. In strong wind or heavy rain, postpone exposed paths and choose an indoor stop in Yeongdo. Ask staff about step-free access and train boarding assistance rather than assuming every viewpoint is accessible.
