Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1 · Seoul → Suncheon → cockle meal → wetland walk and sunsetStay in Suncheon
  2. Day 2 · National Garden or city walk → return to SeoulAllow time to reach the station

Before you book

An overnight stay separates the sunset visit from the journey home.

Reserve your main transport first. Confirm each hotel’s check-in time and the return from the wetland after sunset. Keep the National Garden and Wetland as separate destinations.

What to see

Suncheon Bay Wetland and Yongsan Observatory. Give the National Garden a separate time slot.

Transport

Take a reserved train from Yongsan to Suncheon. From Suncheon Station, use city bus 66 or a taxi to the wetland entrance. Use “Suncheon Bay Wetland”, not the National Garden, as your destination. Book the return train and check the last local connection before staying for sunset.

Local food

Near Suncheon Bay, try a cockle set meal with rice and side dishes, or cockle bibimbap mixed with vegetables and sauce. The linked meal guide includes Suncheonman Ilbeonga and explains the difference between these dishes.

Check the price per person, minimum order and opening hours. Cockle dishes contain shellfish.

Where to stay

Suncheon Bay Ecochon or a hotel/motel near Suncheon Station. Check late arrival arrangements.

For hanok rooms, confirm floor bedding or beds, private bathrooms and luggage access. For a hotel or motel, check its address, total price and cancellation policy.

ROUTE 2 · 4 days / 3 nights · suggested itinerary

Seoul → Jeonju → Gwangju → Suncheon Bay

Three cities in a southbound sequence: Jeonju’s hanok streets, Gwangju’s culture and Suncheon’s wetlands.

Reserve your main transport first. Confirm each hotel’s check-in time and the return from the wetland after sunset. Keep the National Garden and Wetland as separate destinations.

Transport

Take a reserved train from Yongsan to Jeonju. Travel by intercity bus from Jeonju to Gwangju U-Square, then from Gwangju to Suncheon. Allow a separate taxi or city-bus transfer between sightseeing areas and each terminal. Continue from Suncheon Station or terminal to the wetland entrance.

Local food

Try bibimbap or bean-sprout soup in Jeonju, a regional Korean set meal in Gwangju, and cockle dishes in Suncheon. Plan your meals near the day’s sightseeing area rather than adding a long detour.

Check the price per person, minimum order and opening hours. Cockle dishes contain shellfish.

Where to stay

Jeonju hanok guesthouse → Gwangju hotel → Suncheon Ecochon or station-area hotel/motel.

For hanok rooms, confirm floor bedding or beds, private bathrooms and luggage access. For a hotel or motel, check its address, total price and cancellation policy.

A shorter mix of Gwangju culture, cafés and Suncheon scenery.

Reserve your main transport first. Confirm each hotel’s check-in time and the return from the wetland after sunset. Keep the National Garden and Wetland as separate destinations.

Transport

Take a reserved train from Yongsan to Gwangju-Songjeong. Reach central Gwangju by metro or taxi, then use an intercity bus from U-Square to Suncheon. The wetland is a separate local transfer from the city. Check your return to Seoul before arranging the final morning.

Local food

Suggested lead itinerary for travellers who want a hanok stay, local food and wetland scenery.

Reserve your main transport first. Confirm each hotel’s check-in time and the return from the wetland after sunset. Keep the National Garden and Wetland as separate destinations.

Jeonju’s bibimbap and bean-sprout soup fit the first day. In Suncheon, compare a cockle set meal with bibimbap before choosing lunch. Leave time for the wetland walk after eating.

Check the price per person, minimum order and opening hours. Cockle dishes contain shellfish.

Where to stay

One night in a Jeonju hanok, then Suncheon Ecochon or a station-area hotel/motel.

For hanok rooms, confirm floor bedding or beds, private bathrooms and luggage access. For a hotel or motel, check its address, total price and cancellation policy.
