TRAVEL HELP · DECISION GUIDE

Order a meal for one

Being welcomed alone and being allowed to order one portion are separate questions. Ask both before you sit down.

Read the minimum order

Menus can display a price per portion while requiring two portions. Look for 1인분 (one portion), 2인분 이상 (two or more portions) or 최소 주문 (minimum order), then ask staff to explain the total. Do not assume a counter seat removes the minimum. A single diner may still be offered a shared set that costs more than expected.

Choose a meal format before a restaurant

Individual rice bowls, noodles and soup-with-rice menus can be easier starting points than shared barbecue or large hotpots. This is a way to shortlist menus, not a guarantee about every restaurant. Check opening time, break time and last order before walking there. If booking online, select one guest and verify the branch on your map.

Confirm ingredients and the final bill

Menu photos do not reveal every ingredient. Show your dietary needs to staff and ask about broth, sauces and garnishes. For allergies, seek an explicit answer rather than treating “not spicy” or “vegetable” as a safety assurance. Before ordering extras, ask whether rice or drinks are included. Keep the menu price and receipt if a charge is unclear.

Order a meal for one

Try this first

  1. Before sitting down, ask whether one person can dine and whether one portion can be ordered.
  2. Check the minimum order and price before ordering. Some menus require two portions; the policy depends on the restaurant and dish.
  3. Look for individual meals such as bibimbap, soup with rice or noodles. If booking, select one guest and confirm the branch. Counter seating does not guarantee a one-person order.

If you are still stuck

If the minimum order does not suit you, choose another restaurant. Ask staff to confirm ingredients and dietary needs before ordering.
