The founding tradition reaches back to predecessor Seongdeoksa in 727, approximately 1,300 years ago. The present cave halls are modern, developed after the 1984 fire. Follow the open path below the cliffs and respect worshippers inside.
Check the actual train in KORAIL, then match a confirmed rental pickup or prearranged taxi. LOTTE lists a Changwon Jungang Station branch (+82-55-295-8000). Confirm its exact office, hours and same-branch return before buying tickets; no free shuttle is promised.
Search Bustago for your date; a historical county notice is not proof of today’s direct service. If no ticket is available, use a bookable regional connection or rail with a reserved vehicle. Ask temple staff about the current Gungnyu/Pyeongchon bus stop and return; do not rely on a rural taxi being available without a booking.
Use live navigation to 청정로 1202-15. The valley and Uiryeong-town meals require separate drives. Confirm your rental branch, documents, insurance, fuel and return time; a one-way return needs supplier approval and a separate quote.
Use Ilbungsa’s parking area for the temple and Bonghwangdae walk. Parking is confirmed in tourism listings; current fee and capacity are not confirmed. Ask staff before leaving the car and keep the temple access clear.
A county-listed outdoor overnight option near the valley. Reserve in advance and confirm the exact site, equipment, facilities and access; do not assume a cabin or rental tent is included.
Compare town accommodation for dinner and transport access. This is an area suggestion: confirm the individual property, late arrival and a reserved onward car before booking.
A county-listed meal stop at 6 Uibyeong-ro 18-gil, Uiryeong-eup (+82-55-573-2514). It is in town, not beside the temple. Check opening before driving; soba broth may contain meat or fish.
Build a town lunch around Uiryeong’s beef-soup tradition. Compare current menus and opening with the market directory; add the drive to and from the temple to your plan.
