Choose your route

Short visit · fir forest & Woljeongsa

Begin with the fir-forest approach and Woljeongsa courtyard. Choose an open out-and-back section to match your time and walking pace. This does not include the full Seonjae-gil route to Sangwonsa.

Longer visit · Seonjae-gil to Sangwonsa

VISITKOREA describes a roughly 9 km forest route linking Woljeongsa and Sangwonsa. Its reference article was updated in December 2019: use the current park map and closure notices for today’s path. Temple visits and the fir-forest approach add time.

Fir-forest approach → Woljeongsa → Seonjae-gil → Sangwonsa → arranged return

Arrival & return plan

Check your Seoul-to-Jinbu journey separately from the final transfer to the temple area. Verify bus stops and the last return with the operator; save a taxi alternative. A car parked at the start needs a return transfer after a one-way walk. Avoid adding a summit hike to this valley itinerary.

Place names & maps

Place-search links identify stops; they are not a GPS trail or a promise of an open path. Follow the park’s current map and signs.

Food & a slower overnight

Plan a meal before the long walk and check dining near your actual finish. For an overnight, compare the exact location in Jinbu or the Odaesan area and confirm the next morning’s transfer. Hongcheon’s ginkgo forest and Sambong are separate trips with their own road transfers.

Before you walk

Check current park restrictions, weather and daylight. Carry water, food, layers and shoes with grip. Roots, bridges, wet ground and winter ice need care; a forest route is not a guarantee of step-free access.
