Start with one town or sightseeing cluster. Distances between attractions can be substantial; use the map and individual guides to choose a manageable route.
Top sights
Odaesan · Woljeongsa, Seonjae-gil & Sangwonsa
Choose a short fir-forest and temple visit, or a longer one-way valley walk. Plan the return before setting off.
Hongcheon Ginkgo Forest
Around 2,000 ginkgo trees, golden rows and a gentle autumn wander. Combine this seasonal private forest with a stay at Sambong.
Sambong National Recreational Forest
A mountain-valley forest, Sambong Spring and an overnight among trees. Choose a short forest stroll or a separate Gachilbong hike.
Chuncheon
Take the train out of Seoul for waterside views, a glass-bottomed skywalk and a meal of Chuncheon dakgalbi.
Gangneung
Trade Seoul’s skyline for east-coast beaches, lakeside heritage and a coffee by the sea. Gangneung pairs Gyeongpo’s coast with Ojukheon’s history and the soft tofu of Chodang. Plan an overnight stay to explore without rushing between neighbourhoods.
Sokcho
Combine the mountain scenery of Seoraksan with a harbour city, a beach and the food of Abai Village. Sokcho works well as a two-day escape: give the national park its own day and leave time for the coast.
Geumgangsan Hwaamsa
A quiet temple below northern Seoraksan and a short, steep forest walk to Seongindae's granite viewpoints. Start at Hwaamsa, climb past Subawi, and look across to Ulsanbawi only when weather and trail conditions are safe.
Jujeongol & Yongso Falls
Walk beside clear pools and granite walls from Osaek on Seoraksan’s southern side. This is a valley day based in Yangyang or Osaek, separate from the Sokcho/Sogongwon entrance.
Hyuhyuam · Seaside Temple
A quiet coastal temple with sea-facing statues and unusual rock formations. Make it a relaxed southern Yangyang stop, linked with Ingu or Namae rather than a rushed Seoraksan detour.
Donggang Red Buckwheat · Yeongwol
Red buckwheat along the Donggang at Meokgol Village. Match the flower visit to a dated festival and a realistic return from the riverside, not just a river-name map pin.
Inje Autumn Flower Festival
A seasonal flower walk in Yongdae, with a practical dried-pollock meal stop and a separate Baekdamsa excursion if time permits.
Jeongdongsimgok Badabuchae Trail
Follow a coastal walking route between cliffs and sea. Make the shoreline the main activity rather than squeezing it into a rushed transfer.
Dojjaebigol Sky Valley
Look over the East Sea from the elevated skywalk, then explore Mukho Lighthouse and the harbour below. The paid Sky Valley and waterside Haerang Observatory are separate stops.
Mureung Valley & Mureung Byeolyucheonji
Choose a valley walk or the separate landscape attraction at Mureung Byeolyucheonji. Both need time beyond the city-centre transfer.
Seoraksan National Park
Use Sokcho as a base for a national-park visit. Choose between a lower-valley outing and a properly planned mountain route.
Sokcho Tourist Fish Market
Turn a market visit into a relaxed food stop between coastal or mountain outings. Browse before deciding what to order.
Museum SAN & Sogeumsan Grand Valley
Combine an art-focused visit with a separate valley outing near Wonju. Each has a different pace and access route.
Wondae-ri Birch Forest
Make a woodland walk the focus of an Inje visit. Reaching the birch groves involves a walking approach rather than an immediate roadside viewpoint.
Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Joint Trail
See a river gorge from a constructed walking route. Plan for a continuous outdoor walk and the transfer between trailheads.
Nami Island
Enjoy tree-lined walks and riverside pauses on an island outing. It suits a slower day with time between the approach and the return crossing.
Daegwallyeong
Explore an upland landscape around Daegwallyeong. Choose a particular ranch, village walk or marked trail before planning the journey.
Barwangsan & the Ancient Yew Forest Trail
Plan a mountain-view outing around Barwangsan and its forest paths. Choose a cable-car-based visit or a walking route with a suitable level of effort.
